Despite the period drama feel, Hilton Park has all the comforts of modern-day luxury in an historical setting. Hilton Park is a perfect venue for house parties and family celebrations or friend’s get-together or a holiday rental.

Children are free to roam the estate with rare birds, wild flowers and heritage trees to climb and lakes to swim in. With kids and adults alike reconnecting with nature. The estate offers complimentary: golf, fishing, boating (parties have exclusive use of two trout and pike lakes), biking as well as walks galore in the forest and along many pathways around the estate.

We can also organise a range of activities for you in the comfort of your own estate, from; Clay pigeon shooting, Horse riding, Fly-fishing, Quad biking, Archery.

Inside the house, there is a grand piano, board games, table tennis, billiard room with its own record player and a playroom for children.

By night, drinks are served in one of the drawing room followed by candlelit dinner in the dining room. Our food is seasonal and the much of it is from our walled garden, using local suppliers where possible. After dinner have a sing song by the grand piano. There is plenty of room for after dinner dancing. We can also arrange for local musicians to entertain you.

And even if you end up overdoing the revelry, you can restore yourself with a lengthy breakfast served whatever time you choose.

The house and grounds are available to hire on an exclusive-let, part catered or fully catered basis. We are happy to design bespoke menu led from our garden and walled garden. We can cater for 2- 24 with additional lodges on the estate.

Accommodation

“Wonderful in every respect” is a comment that is often made about Hilton Park. The family of the “warmly hospitable” Maddens have lived here for nearly 300 years. Johnny Madden is a very civilised character, full of chat about local affairs. His wife Lucy is one of the most inspired cooks in Ireland.

Known locally as the Castle, guests experience the exclusive nature of staying in a historic luxury country house and stately home. In such a peaceful and idyllic setting, the house is a sanctuary of laid back luxury where guests will sleep well, eat well and leave with a feeling of well being.

The six bedrooms are all individually decorated each with an en-suite bathroom, antique baths and stunning views of the estate and County Monaghan countryside.
The principal bedrooms have four poster beds, vast eight foot long windows overlooking the lake and parkland. All the bedrooms retain an enchanting old world country house charm and each has its own distinctive character.

There are three drawing rooms, all with burning

log fires and decorated with original family memorabilia. There is an Erard Grand Piano for music enthusiasts.

Dinner is served in the historic dining room overlooking the lake. The fire burns beneath a mantelpiece John Madden brought from Naples via boat. Family portraiture hangs on walls that have seen countless banquets. The view across the landscaped terrace towards Hilton Lough is as it ever was. Only the swans are different.Breakfast is served in the old servants hall with its spectacular vaulted ceiling.
