Activities

Discover many serene and beautiful corners by exploring the pleasure grounds, the walled garden in this magnificent demesne. Hilton Park is both tamed and gently wild.

Our list of favourite things to do…

Nature Walks

Generally, access to an historic house comes with its fair share of challenges, especially as the building is so old. Access into the house is not level and there is no lift inside.

We try to accommodate in every way possible, so please contact us in advance of visiting to help us understand your specific needs regarding accessibility.

Golf
There is an 18-hole golf course on the grounds of at Hilton, complimentary to all staying guests who stay. If you would like to spend a little time improving your skills and technique, we can book you a lesson from a professional golf coach. Please note that lessons and rounds need to be booked in advance. Lessons with a professional golf coach can be booked with advance notice.
Forest Bathing

The Japanese have known for years that spending mindful time in the woods is beneficial for body and soul. We have many native trees, as well as Champions beaches and three-hundred-year-old oaks, we are very proud of the woods at Hilton. We encourage every one of our guests to listen to the sounds of the forest, the scent of the trees, the sunlight playing through the leaves, the fresh, clean air — these things give us a sense of comfort and we have no doubt you will leave with a better sense of wellbeing.

Fishing

With two fishing lakes there are plenty of pike, trout and perch to be caught. Why not fly fish in your own private trout lake or bag yourself a huge pike on Hilton Lough (catch and release policy)?

Boating

Could there be anything more romantic than rowing across your own secluded lake?

Croquet & Lawn Games

On the front lawn there is croquet, but you are welcome to ball some cricket, bouls, or a game of rounders.

Wild Swimming

The lake overlooking the house is a freshwater lake, and during the summer months it is ideal for cooling off. Nature Walks… There are so many places to explore, take our map and unleash the inner rambler. You are likely to see red squirrels, woodpeckers, buzzards and pine martin.

Biking

Bikes can be hired through-drumlinstrails.com- and this can be either normal bikes and electric bikes. There is a route (just outside the estate) that straddles the Finn River and the border with Northern Ireland. www.kingdfishercycleltrail.com

Connolly’s Pub

A walk to the local pub… At the bottom of the avenue to experience the finest Guinness in the land! Connolly’s is a lovely village pub with a definite ‘old
Ireland’ feel.
